Mobile Messaging Operator (MMO)
RoutoMessaging is a mobile operator registered in the United Kingdom:
- Mobile Country Code (MCC): 234
- Mobile Network Code (MNC): 22
We have built a mobile operator network, used solely for the purpose of commercial mobile messaging. Consequently, Routo is regarded as a Mobile Messaging Operator (MMO).
As a Mobile Messaging Operator we can interconnect directly with any mobile operator in the world. Our customers' messaging traffic is routed through these connections.
The type of direct connectivity between RoutoMessaging and other operators' networks is either:
- SS7 signalling with GSM operators. The native messaging protocol used between operators.
- Our GSMA Open Connectivity Hub, for operators using other signalling technologies like CDMA.
As we are positioned within the mobile industry at the operator tier, rather than the service provider or SMS aggregator tier, other operators can connect to us in the same way as they do with other operators (in a minimal risk environment).
Operators may outsource their A2P(Application to Phone) traffic control and management to us to address the problems of spam and untimely delivery of messages that trigger complaints from subscribers. All A2P traffic will ingress through us before being released into the operator networks with any spam filtered and quarantined.
Direct SS7 connectivity with operators affords the highest possible quality of transmission available for our mobile messaging traffic SMS, MMS).
Specifically, quality is defined as follows:
- Least possible points of failure
- Maximum service transparency
- SS7 transmission: seamless connectivity between our SMSC and the handset
- Absence of any "middle man"
